MotorWare

Windows® Vista ™

MotorWare 2007 Edition and higher Works with Microsoft Windows®  Vista™. The user should be able to run MotorWare on Windows Vista as well as MotorWare runs on Windows XP®.

New MotorWare users should go to the Online Store to order a Windows Vista compatible version of MotorWare. Existing customers may upgrade by going to Upgrade to MotorWare 2007 Edition. Current customers may check the version of MotorWare you are running by going to Help --> About /font>in the software to determine if an upgrade is necessary.

TThere are some minor Windows Vista compatibility issues:

  1. A user must have "Administrator" privileges to install MotorWare. Generally the default account you create after you purchase a new computer from a hardware vendor has "Administrator" privileges. A user need not be an Administrator to run MotorWare.
  2. Software activation takes place on a per user instead of a per machine basis.
  3. You may need to disable Windows Firewall or define MotorWare to the firewall before attempting to activate the software.
  4. MotorWare database data  is now stored by default in the shared public folder area. It is no longer stored in \program files\motorware
  5. If you are using a non default company, avoid locations restricted by Windows Vista for user data such as the "Program Files" folder. Be sure to choose a location accessible to all users of the computer.
  6. Browse window preferences for your list of "Open Jobs" are now stored on a per-user instead of per-machine basis.
  7. Some parts of the "MotorWare Learning Center" do not support the Windows Aero interface The system may automatically switch to Windows Basic colors when those features are invoked.  You will not notice this issue during routine use of the software, since the learning center features are typically used only by new users.
  8. Please download and install the latest version of Adobe Acrobat®. Reader from Adobe  before attempting to view the User's Guide.
